It was our first All England festival of the year, and what a week it was. Our team shone on the stage achieving medals and qualifying marks in multiple dances.
Competition at All England Festivals is tough, with the best schools in the country competing and sections of over 30 dances, but this did not phase our team. They know that regardless of whether they medal or not, we will be proud of them. It takes guts and determination to put yourself on a stage in front of an audience. The skills and reliance that all our team are learning from this is invaluable.
The progress our team is making is phenomenal. At Dance Central, we actively track progress as this allows dancers to see their growth and development over time, regardless of whether they win medals or not. Focusing solely on medals can create a mentality of winning at all costs, which can be detrimental to a dancer’s overall growth and enjoyment of the art form.
Tracking progress, on the other hand, allows dancers to celebrate their achievements and see where they have improved or where they still need to work. It can also help them set realistic goals for themselves and work towards achieving them.
