Unforgettable Moments at the Dance Central Summer School

The Dance Central Summer School recently concluded, leaving us with two days of pure dance magic to cherish. The event saw a fusion of young talents from Dance Central and neighbouring dance schools coming together like a harmonious summer family.

Day one ignited with a lively warm-up led by our principal, Cerise. The energy carried over into two exceptional workshops, helmed by remarkable instructors.

Aaron Patel, fresh from the international tour of Cats, shared his technical prowess with the junior and Inter/Senior groups. With original Cats choreography and the chance to flaunt their own skills, the participants were enthralled.

Becky Lamley, a tap virtuoso and Associate Lecturer of Tap at Performers College, introduced innovative styles from across the globe. The result? An arsenal of new tap dancing techniques that left the groups brimming with excitement.

Day two kept the excitement alive with two more accomplished instructors. Olivia Lock, known for her work with Disney+ and the BBC, injected the sessions with her Street dance and Commercial expertise. The students resonated with her vibrant teaching style, showcasing their moves with gusto.

Laura ‘Red’ Gilchrist, the creative force behind House of Bonita events, unveiled a showgirl-inspired choreography infused with Latin flair. The students not only learned a new routine but also revelled in trying on captivating costumes, feathers, and caps.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the guest teachers whose contributions made these two days unforgettable.

As we change our focus to our next exam session and the upcoming School Show, this year at Dance Central promises to be nothing short of extraordinary.
